Brooklyn Benson (2023)
I am currently a sophomore at Southeast Missouri State University and I am still majoring in Agribusiness. So far, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA. I have been actively involved with my sorority Alpha Delta Pi. I am currently the Vice President of Panhellenic Relations on the executive board. I am also the chairman of Greek Week which we are in the middle of right now. It has been a busy week! I planned a community service event partnering with a local nonprofit organization, One City. We helped beautify their facility by painting their outside wall, picking up trash, and cleaning up their fence line. I also organized the donation of 624 clothing items to a local safe house for women. The next day, we listened to a powerful speaker and then walked a mile in support of sexual assault prevention. We also collected and donated canned goods to a local food bank. A couple weeks ago, I was in charge of collecting donations and getting volunteers to take the Polar Plunge. It was $75 per plunger and all proceeds were donated to the Missouri Special Olympics. Our chapter raised over $3,200! Finally, I have been nominated for Sophomore of the Year and the winner will be announced this coming Sunday.
Last summer, I did an internship at the SIU Research Farm that is just across from Scott AFB along 161. I am in talks with a seed salesman in O’Fallon about possibly working for him this coming summer. While at college, I currently work at a pediatric dentist office.
As you can see, I have been having a great college experience and staying involved. I’m incredibly grateful for the scholarship and your belief in me—thank you for supporting my journey!
